DTEK ESCO, in collaboration with DTEK Energy, proceeds with the project of implementation of the energy management system compliant with ISO 50001:2011 international standard at three DTEK power generation companies and works on preparation of TPPs to standard compliance certification.

DTEK ESCO Trains 55 Internal Auditors of Energy Management Systems for 10 TPPs

During April, 2018, 55 internal auditors of energy management systems have been trained for 10 DTEK Energy’s thermal power plants. They all have successfully completed their study and obtained relevant certificates. Their task will be to constantly supervise and ensure uninterrupted process of energy management. One hundred and fifty-five employees of the TPPs and DTEK’s Corporate Centre have completed training by the program ‘ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System at the TPP’ in total. The training is conducted at DTEK Academy.

In course of the energy management system implementation, the TPP specialists have developed a package of energy-efficient measures and projects. Some of these have already been implemented in partnership with DTEK ESCO through the energy service mechanism. DTEK ESCO acts as an investor to fund and execute energy-efficient measures on the turnkey basis, while retrofitting plant equipment.

“The potential from implementation of an energy management system through organizational actions is about 10% saving of energy resources for own needs, and up to 30% upon implementation of energy-efficient projects through energy service mechanism,” said Andrii Ivanko, Head of the Project Management Department of DTEK ESCO.

“DTEK’s goal is to remain one step ahead of other large energy companies that have already announced their plans on implementation of ISO 50001 energy management systems,” noted Oleh Horbunov, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, consultant and certified trainer for energy management systems and industrial enterprises energy audit at DTEK ESCO.

Yevhen Bushma, Director of DTEK ESCO, expressed particular appreciation and handed an energy-efficient Smart WATT kit to Dmytro Savoliuk, Energy Manager and Head of the Equipment Adjustment and Testing Department of DTEK Ladyzhynska TPP. “Owing to initiative and tenacity of Mr. Savoliuk, there are already 5 ESCO projects brought to life at Ladyzhynska TPP saving now more than 40% of electric power. These are the projects on retrofitting of cold potable water supply pumps, condensate storage tank pumps, first stage pump station, and network and wastewater pumps. As a result from these projects, we have confirmed the efficiency of frequency converters application and of funding and implementation of these projects through the energy service mechanism. The Ladyzhynska TPP experience provides new opportunities of retrofitting and upgrading other DTEK Energy’s power plants,” said Yevhen Bushma.

It should be reminded that the ISO 50001:2011 energy management system project implementation has been being carried out since 2017 at all DTEK Energy’s thermal power plants. It is planned that all the company’s 10 TPPs are to undergo certification for international standards compliance in 2018. Consulting services on this project are being provided by DTEK ESCO and TÜV SÜD.
